Resume Tracker Thank You!
You
have submitted your resume to our system. You have completed your
first step to finding a new job through us or through someone else and we hope it is us.
As we get hundreds or resumes a day, please forgive us for not respond
individually to each resume, but the volume of resumes makes it
impossible. What we have found is that sometimes candidates forget where they have applied and repeatedly apply to the same position over and over.
If they are doing this to our job postings, they may also be doing it to other companies and this is not a good strategy for getting a job but we have solved this problem... more on that below.
Now as we said, due to the volume we can't reply individually to each submission...
However here's what we can do for you;
First - Put you in our shared internal database!
Why is this important? Because we share this with all of our recruiters in this company! This is the only single most used internal database used by our internal recruiters to search for candidates when we get a new job order. This means when any of our recruiters gets a job order, they will be able to find you and see if you match the requirements.
Second – Ask you to visit our job search resources page.
Recruiting is about timing. If you are looking for a job when we have the order you are in luck. In the past this has meant that everyone else was out of luck. There was a real problem here. We did not like that model. There were too many good people we could not help when they needed help the most.
This became clear when we received an email from a woman who's husband was going on an interview with a company and it was his first interview in a couple of months. She begged for help choosing the right kind of tie!
Our first thought was to resist helping because it would take us away from our primary function which is to find top people for companies willing to pay us to find them...but I'm getting off track. It occurred to us that when we are working with a candidate on a position we have been hired to fill, they get our insight and experience in preparing a resume, preparing for interviews, researching companies and more.
While it is simply not possible to work with everyone at the same level, it doesn't mean we could not get everyone some of this type of help. The problem is we can not do it on a one to one basis. The solution?
Give free tips on line to everyone in their job search. It has taken some time but we have put up on the web several articles and resources we use all the time to land that job. This includes, interview tips, company research tips, resume tips and more. We've even added a few that don't apply to candidates we work with, like, how to network for a job and more.
Back to the story, we were able to assist with the tie selection. We got a
very nice thank you note and were happy to find that the candidate got that second interview! Now this is on line and we are adding to it all the time! Visit and I promise you will find at least one thing that will help you in your job search. If not, drop us a line and tell us what would help.
Third – Do you Tweet?
When we get new positions, we often post them on our twitter account. We use twitter to post jobs, tips and more. Follow us on twitter today. (Free Tip - If you don't have a twitter account, it may be something to look into for networking!)
Fourth and final offer! - Free Resume Tracker and Newsletter*.
Many years ago, when my partner was looking for work she used to apply to a number of different positions all the time. It became confusing when reading the new ads which positions she applied to. This caused some problem because companies hate being 'spammed' by candidates. You will not be taken as a serious candidate in fact it may label you as desperate and hurt your chances at an interview.
To solve this for herself, she came up with a tracking sheet. Until now she kept this invaluable resource to herself. This tool keeps track of all the places you have interviewed and captures who, where, how and when you applied to a position.
Why do I need this resume tracker tool and why is important to keep track other than being thought of as a spammer? Because there is nothing like an organized candidate to give an employer or recruiter the sense that you are working with a professional. Did I mention the value when working with a recruiter? If you find a good recruiter, you need to keep this person close at hand. The pro's will find you positions you many never have access to over the life of your career.
So if you are professional enough to have a list of all the places you have applied, the recruiter can quickly eliminate possible duplicates. This is good for you and for the recruiter. Why? Same as before you don't look like a spammer to the company and the recruiter does not damage their relation with the company by spamming them with duplicate resumes. You will set yourself apart from other candidates when you have this information at the tip of your fingers.
